so intense as to defy description, crazy forms, wild textures, clouds
of feathers, mincing strutters and closely- focused marching musicians
all celebrate this special day with their procession along South Broad
Street, moving from the neighborhoods of South Philadelphia to the
judging stand and TV cameras beside City Hall. Playfulness
and
sheer fun spill onto the street and lift the crowds along the way, in
this day-long festival, a miniature Mardi Gras.
